We’re accidental homesteaders - once upon a time, we lived in a cozy little suburban neighborhood where the kids rode their bikes to school and neighbors chatted over fences. But something kept nudging us — a longing for more space, more dirt under our nails, and fewer shared walls. Chris grew up on a few acres and missed that lifestyle. I (the more reluctant half) had never lived anywhere not suburban and wasn’t quite sure what I was signing up for.
With a curious heart and a bit of courage, we made the leap… and landed on a property with a barn, an arena, and a goat house. Empty outbuildings? Not for long.
Led by curiosity, fueled by questions, and powered by a never-ending list of projects. One moment we were asking, “What animals should we get?” and the next we were googling things like:
Turns out, this life is one giant, hands-on classroom. Thankfully, Stacia’s background as a science teacher means we embrace learning with curiosity. Whether you're 8 or 80, you'll find this is the most laid-back “classroom” you've ever been part of — no pop quizzes here!
4.5 years, 5 animal species, 2 chicken coops, 1 greenhouse and more growth than we ever imagined later... Still learning. Still problem-solving. Always.
Join us and make some memories of your own! Check out the Classes & Animal Experiences we offer.
With a background in education and a deep love for animals, Stacia blends hands-on learning with closed-loop agriculature practices. From milking goats and collecting eggs to walking an alpaca through an obstacle course, every visit is a chance to slow down and connect—with nature, food, and each other. We are here to make a unique experience just for you.

Rex was our loyal, loving, and endlessly patient red lab. Rescued at about a year old, he spent most of his life in the suburbs visiting kids as a certified therapy dog, snuggling with his people, and trotting through schools spreading comfort. Though his time at the ranch was short, he embraced the wide-open space like a pro — moseying across the pasture, chasing the occasional bunny, and making sure we never wandered too far without him. Rex was the heart of our family, and now he’s the soul of this place.
This is Rex’s Ranch — a space built on love, curiosity, and the joy of new beginnings.
